Rogelio Pereda
Born in Mexico City in 1959 and rooted, residing and working in this modern megalopolis with a wanderlust for unfamiliar territories, Rogelio Pereda’s work explores notions of identity, gender, and diversity. His ongoing series “The Way We Were” investigates and confronts some of the cultural and social stereotypes underlying gender, opting to focus on the beauty, sensitivity and vulnerabilities found in the transgender community. These portraits are a personal delving into their subjects, with unexpected placements or juxtapositions related to the human condition, involving provocative sequences that transgress gender expectations and stereotypes. Pereda is a scientits working in the field of Plant Chemistry and Pharmacy at the National University of Mexico and has been an amateur photographer for almost four decades. He attended master classes at “Centro de la Imagen” in Mexico City, the International Center of Photography in New York, and The Maine Media Workshops. His work has been exhibited in various Museums and Private Galleries in Mexico. Recently, part of his Photo Assay Diversity Decontextualized was published by JPG Magazine.
